Back in 1957, Lyle Burgess operated a wheel alignment service, and soon realized how difficult it was to get the steering and suspension parts he needed. He discovered that the industry lacked a steering and suspension part manufacturer that offered complete coverage. Parts were becoming obsolete. He also felt that he wasn’t the only shop around with this problem. Because of the poor availability of steering and suspension parts, Lyle’s ultimate desire was to have every part available, every time. This vision drove him to create Rare Parts in 1981.
Today, decades after Mr. Burgess’ vision to create Rare Parts, a second generation Burgess now runs the company. Lyle’s son, Danny Burgess, President of Rare Parts and a machinist by trade, grew up in the business alongside his father. Danny spent most of his time in the machine shop building tooling, one of a kind steering and suspension parts, and machines to help simplify and speed up many of the manufacturing processes. His innovative ideas have helped to successfully grow the company into many different segments of the automotive aftermarket. Together, this small family owned business continues to offer complete coverage for any make, model, or year vehicle. As Chairman of Rare Parts, Lyle Burgess continues to stay involved and enjoys working auto shows as well as assisting with the development of new items.
